Who is responsible

What we collect

  • Error reports and usage events through PostHog: errors with their stack trace, pages visited, clicks, and your browser, device type, approximate location and IP address. We use them to find bugs and see which games people play.
  • Session replays, only if you accept cookies: a recording of what happens on the page, used to reproduce bugs. The only thing you can type on focused is your initials.
  • Visit counts through Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.
  • Leaderboard scores, only if you post one: your initials, the game, the day and your score. They are public. Your IP address is used only to limit how often scores can be posted and isn't stored.
  • Feedback, only if you send some: your message, its type, the game it's about and your browser. We don't ask for your name or email. Messages are copied to our private GitHub repository so we can track fixes. Your IP address is used only to limit how often reports can be sent and isn't stored.

Cookies and storage

If you accept, PostHog sets a cookie and uses local storage to recognize your browser across visits and link replays to errors.

If you decline or haven't chosen yet, nothing from PostHog is stored on your device except your choice. Events are still sent, but anonymously: PostHog can't link your visits together across days, and replays stay off.

Whatever you choose, the games keep your personal bests and whether you've played today's daily challenge in your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device.

Legal basis

Cookies and session replays rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time above. Anonymous error reports, analytics, the leaderboard and feedback rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and running the daily challenge.

Who processes it

  • PostHog, on its EU cloud hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, for error tracking, analytics and replays.
  • Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which hosts the site and its database and provides Web Analytics.
  • GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which hosts the private issues created from feedback.

Nothing is sold or used for advertising.

How long we keep it

  • Session replays: 30 days.
  • Error reports and usage events: 1 year.
  • Feedback: 1 year, including the copy on GitHub.
  • Leaderboard scores: as long as the leaderboard exists, unless you ask us to remove yours.
